Gabon is often called the “Woodcore of Africa,” and for good reason. Our native species offer distinct advantages for engineered flooring:

  • Okoumé (Aucoumea klaineana): Lightweight yet stable, with a beautiful pinkish-brown hue and a fine, uniform texture. It is exceptionally workable and finishes beautifully, offering a unique look that is not commonly found in the U.S. market.
  • Bilinga (Nauclea diderrichii): Known for its exceptional durability and resistance to wear, comparable to White Oak. Its golden-yellow to orange-red color matures into a rich, deep bronze, offering a stunning and highly durable option.
  • Doussié (Afzelia spp.): Extremely hard and naturally resistant to insects and decay. Doussié boasts a beautiful color variation from reddish-brown to a purplish-brown, with a coarse texture that adds immense character.
  • Padauk (Pterocarpus soyauxii): Famous for its vibrant, striking orange-red heartwood that ages to a rich, deep burgundy or purple-brown. It is very hard, strong, and stable, making a bold design statement.
